The founders Elisha Babcock and Hampton Story envisioned building one of the grandest hotels on the Pacific coast among a well-planned community. The Hotel Del Coronado today is one of the grandest hotels. The Coronado Island and the hotel have developed side by side over the historic years. Coronado with its enticing attractiveness is an enchanting city whose charm is experienced in entirety when seen in actual. The city has played host to presidents, Hollywood and many renowned personalities. In 1972, President Richard Nixon held the first State Dinner outside of the White House at the Hotel del Coronado.
