Normal Heights, founded in 1906, is a neighborhood with Mission Valley on one side and the El Cajon Boulevard on the other. The neighborhood is close to Kensington and University Heights. In the late 1800s, the area was populated with brush and frequented by rabbits. The name ‘normal’ originated from the Normal School, a school for teachers close to Normal Heights, which was later renamed as the San Diego State Teacher’s college.
