The city of San Marcos was incorporated in the year 1963. The city got its name as the “Little Valleys of Saint Mark” when the Spanish troops came to this fertile land. With the advent of the first water from the Colorado River arrived, San Marcos witnessed a period of high growth. With the inception of the California State University at San Marcos, the city has seen a boom in businesses, technology led jobs and employment.
