About Carmel Valley
Carmel Valley lies in the northwest region of San Diego and is comparatively one of the relatively newer neighborhoods of the county. In 1905, the Carmelite Sisters of Mercy established a dairy farm and monastery in the Carmel Valley area. Carmel Valley was formally established in 1975. With larger construction having started only in 1983, many homeowners own homes, which are fairly recent in construction. The Carmel Valley area continues to see new construction projects by key builders such as Pardee, Davidson Communities, Terrabrook and Shea as the community expands and grows. Carmel Valley is in close proximity to Del Mar, Torrey Pines, Solana Beach and Fairbanks Ranch with convenient access to restaurants, stores and a variety of entertainment options. It is known for access to some of the best schools in San Diego serviced by the San Dieguito School District, Solana Beach and Del Mar school district. The Torrey Pines High School is acknowledged among the best high schools in San Diego County.
Life in Carmel Valley
The neighborhoods of Carmel Valley are evergreen, surrounded by parks, walking trails and recreation centers for children. The closest beaches are Del Mar and the Torrey Pines beach. Pacific Highlands ranch is a newer community in the east of Carmel Valley developed by Pardee Homes. With over 1,300 acres of surrounding natural habitat, the new homes demonstrate energy efficiency, drought tolerant landscaping and numerous walking trails.
