Beachside Community
Oceanside, the third largest city in the San Diego County lies adjacent to the Marines Corps base of Camp Pendleton. Spanish missionaries under Father Junipero founded the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia. Oceanside was under the Spanish, then Mexican rule and finally under the US in 1848. Oceanside offers many beaches to its residents among which the Oceanside City beach with its boardwalk and pier is a popular spot. The Oceanside Pier at 1942 feet, built in 1888 is one of the longest piers in the US and beautifully created. The other beaches include the Buccaneer beach, popular with early learners for surfing and the Oceanside harbor beach known for surfing and fishing opportunities.
